Reduce Sugar Intake: Week 4 Healthy Challenge – #htFit

Chocolate cupcakeWe all know added sugar is bad for us. It rots our teeth and leads to problems like obesity and diabetes.But it seems like there’s added sugar in everything! Hidden under names like high fructose corn syrup, it can be a little difficult to determine what’s “added sugar” and what’s naturally occurring sugar.

The average American takes in approximately 500 calories worth of sugar, but the American Heart Association recommends no more than 6.5 teaspoons (100 calories) a day. So it’s easy to see why it’s important to reduce sugar intake!

Your task this week:

Reduce sugar intake! Replace one high-sugary item in your normal diet with a lower sugar, healthy alternative. Show us what you’ve replaced and share your photos and videos with us using the hashtag #htFit!
