Many of you have probably heard of or seen kettlebells, but very few people I run into are familiar with basic kettlebell exercises.  Lately, kettlebells have become all the rage, and for good reason – they can be used for a great workout!

I was thinking about it and suggesting a good kettlebell workout for truck drivers makes perfect sense.  Kettlebells are inexpensive, can be taken just about anywhere and don’t require a lot of space/time to be used for a good workout.

Today, I’m going to demonstrate 8 Basic, beginner kettlebell exercises for truck drivers that can be done anywhere.

I recommend beginning with a lightweight kettlebell until you get the feel of the motions down. Weights range from 2 pounds all the way up to 100, so pick one you can comfortably handle. When comparing weights, pick a size that allows you to perform 20-30 swings. A lightweight kettlebell (about 10 pounds) is relatively inexpensive at Walmart.

Now that you’ve got your weight, it’s time to begin! Watch my video below for a demonstration of these 8 basic kettlebell exercise for truck drivers.

  • Two-handed Swing
  • Single Arm Swing Switch
  • Single Leg Deadlift
  • Deep Squat
  • Push-up
  • Upright Row
  • Russian Twist
  • Straight Leg Toe Touch

If you choose to do this as a circuit (which is my recommendation, as it really gets your heart rate going), you would do each exercise for 30 seconds, then advance to the next with no breaks between each move. After completing all 8 moves, take a 2-5 minute rest, then repeat the circuit one or two more times!

You can also do this in traditional lifting style as sets. With this method, you would do individual each exercise for 15-30 repetitions, take a 30 second break between each, then repeat the sequence however many times you want.
