Smoothies and protein shakes are a great way to start a long day of driving in the morning. Filled with protein, fruits, and veggies, they are a filling breakfast while providing you with lots of vitamins and nutrients at the same time. Not to mention, they’re delicious and a whole lot healthier than a drive-thru breakfast meal!

A personal blender that we and some Healthy Trucker fans have recommended is the Oster My Blend 250-Watt Personal Blender. This little guy is ideal for those with on-the-go lifestyles because it’s compact and contains a blender and travel bottle in one! You can drink straight from the container (which conveniently fits in your truck’s cup holder), and you’re not dirtying up multiple dishes with this which is perfect since space on a truck is already so limited.

The good news is you can make a delicious smoothie or protein shake with just about anything you have at your disposal! Just make sure you have the three basic ingredients of smoothie making:  some kind of protein (whey powder, yogurt, tofu, etc), a liquid base (milk, water, green tea, juice, etc), and your fruit/veggies/additives.

Throw some frozen strawberries or blueberries and ice in there to make a healthy fruit smoothie. Toss in some protein powder for an energy boost throughout your day of driving. Or add some spinach or kale for a healthy, green smoothie. You can make plenty of healthy breakfast meals with this one tool and you won’t be tempted to stop at Mickey D’s for a McGriddle. Just watch what you add to the blender — smoothies can quickly turn unhealthy if you’re using the wrong ingredients. Here is a great article on how to make a basic healthy smoothie.
