Ahh, Thanksgiving. The time where we all sit down to stuff our faces and appreciate everything we have… in front of a giant plate of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and dinner rolls.
How many of us have heard these words said at the Thanksgiving table?
“I’m thankful for my wife and children.”
“I’m thankful for my house and steady job.”
“I’m thankful for my health.”
Alright, hands down. Those are all awesome things to be thankful for, and we should be — no doubt. But when the general population is thinking of everything they’re thankful for on Thanksgiving, they usually don’t consider the people who made their holiday festivities possible to begin with — the truckers who sacrifice time with their own family to bring us everything we need to make our holiday special. The men and women who drive across the country to ensure all the ingredients for our mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie are on the table Thursday afternoon.
This year, I encourage all the non-truckers to pause and give a bit of thanks to the men and women who make sure all of our necessities (and frankly, all of our non-necessities as well) are in the stores when we need them. That turkey is on your table because of them! So let’s give a bit of thanks to the awesome folks who probably won’t get to spend the holiday with their wife and kids because they’ve made a commitment to keep this economy and country running smoothly.
On behalf of all of us at The Healthy Trucker, we’d like to say thanks. For sacrificing time with your families throughout the course of the year so our lives can be a little easier. You guys are awesome, and Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
