Week 1 of the Healthy Trucker Challenge focused on getting active on the road. Now we’re going to focus on the other key to truck driver wellness — eating healthy on the road.
Nutrition Guidelines
Everyone’s diet varies a little bit based on what kind of diet you follow (Gluten free, vegetarian, paleo, etc), but there are some general dietary guidelines that we should all follow to promote overall health.
The ideal, “healthy diet” is one that focuses on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and fat-free or low-fat milk products, includes lean meats, poultry, fish, eggs, and nuts, and is low in saturated and trans fats, cholesterol, salt, and added sugar.
Your goal for this week:
This week, your Healthy Trucker challenge is to get a meal in on the road that hits all nutrition groups — fruits, veggies, whole grains, dairy, and protein.
